The short version. We read your public professional profile, used it to build a sample one-page website for you, and sent you a picture of it once. We did not buy your data and we do not sell it. If you want it gone, email us and it is gone the same week — you do not have to give a reason.
This site and the service described here are run under the name The Fair Copy.
It is run by one person, working with a small number of contractors. If you need the controller's registered legal details for a formal request, email us and we will send them the same day.
Only what was on your public professional profile, and only the working parts of it:
We do not collect your email address, phone number, date of birth, or anything you did not publish yourself. We do not use tracking pixels in our messages.
Your publicly visible professional profile — most often LinkedIn — read by a person, not scraped in bulk. We record the source and the date for every profile we hold, so if you ask where a particular detail came from, we can tell you specifically rather than in general.
To build a personalised sample of our work and show it to you once, in case it is useful. That is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: we are offering a professional service to a professional audience, using information those professionals published in order to be found for exactly this kind of opportunity.
We think that is a fair balance, but it is your call, not ours — see below.
Nobody. We do not sell, rent, or share it. It is not fed to any advertising network. The only third parties involved are the ordinary tools that make the work possible — hosting, email, and a language model used to draft the page text — and none of them receive your data for their own purposes.
One email is enough for any of these. No form, no account, no explanation needed:
We answer within 30 days and usually much sooner. If we ever have a page live for you, tell us and it comes down too — that is not a separate request.
We use a language model to draft page text and to sort profiles by whether the service is likely to be relevant. Nothing about that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you: the outcome is only whether a person sends you one message.
You can complain to your national data protection authority. In the EU, that is the supervisory authority where you live or work; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office. We would rather you told us first, but you are not obliged to.
